Esther is survived by 2 sons: William “Bill” and Jeanette Digmann of Dyersville and Loras and Deb Digmann of Dubuque, IA, and a daughter, Ruth and Paul Miller of Delmar, IA; 9 grandchildren: Tracy (Keith) Hoeger, Ben (Rachel Gravel) and Becky (Peter Rauen) Digmann, Noah, Adam and Sara Miller, Wes, Jon (Ashley Kelleher) and Steven Digmann, and; 2 step grandchildren: Mike and Pam Boge; 2 great-grandchildren, Cory and Brad Hoeger; 2 sisters: Ardella (Monroe) Hoffman of Worthington, IA and Olga (Marvin) Helle of Earlville, IA; 1 brother, Henry (Eileen) Bildstein of Earlville, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert on July 11, 1998, a son, Mark, in 1963, a daughter-in-law, Verdene “Dena” Digmann in 1995, and a granddaughter, Melissa Marie Digmann in 1974, and a brother and his wife, Matt and Adella Bildstein. Esther was born June 15, 1928, in New Vienna, Iowa the daughter of Clem and Oda (Goedken) Bildstein. She married Gilbert J. Digmann at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville on February 28, 1949. Esther was a homemaker who helped her husband in their business, Gib’s Tap, as well as working at Coilwall and the Ertl Company. She was a very good cook, especially known for her baking skills, who also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, bowling and playing cards. Esther was a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and a Gift Shop volunteer at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville. The family extends a special thank you to the people of Hospice of Dubuque, Mercy Medical Center and Oak Crest Manor for their compassionate care and support. An Esther T. Digmann memorial fund has been established.
