Esther Luensmann

Survivors include 4 daughters: Ann (Richard) Woodward of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lois (Bill) Lane of Shueyville, IA, Elaine (Francis) Pistek of Garner, IA, and Patricia (Jim) Weisbeck of Worthington, IA, a son, Larry (Deanne) Luensmann of Dyersville, 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister, Marie (Nick) Beck of Cascade, IA. and a sister-in-law, Teresa Goedken of Delhi, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 2007, a sister, Adeline (Carsten) Thomsen and 2 brothers: William and Gerald Goedken. Esther was born on September 20, 1921 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Clement and Cecelia (Bergfeld) Goedken. She married John Gerald Luensmann on September 20, 1945 in Worthington, Iowa. Together they farmed east of Worthington until they moved to town in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington and the Altar and Rosary Society at the church. She loved gardening and her flowers, her card clubs, crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. Her best days were spent with her family and as a measure of dedication to her husband John, of 62 years she tolerated listening to the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes and his fishing. Esther's children wish to thank the staff at Shady Rest Care Center for their compassion and excellent care.
