Eugene Krieg

Eugene Orlando Krieg was born the son of Orlando and Clara (Williams) Krieg on March 9, 1922 at the family farm home on Bear Creek in Elk Township. He was baptized on October 17, 1924 in Elkader. He passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital with his family by his side. Eugene attended Musfeldt Country School and Elkport High School. Eugene spent his entire life farming, first with his parents, then on the Troester family farm from 1948 to 1995. On August 14, 1946, he was united in marriage with Lydia Troester at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. To this union they were blessed with two children. Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He delighted in conversation with family and friends. After Eugene retired from farming he spent his time tending to his dogs and cats, and growing vegetables and flowers in his garden. He also enjoyed riding his bike along the Mississippi River in Guttenberg. Eugene will be remembered by his daughter, Eugenia (Dale) Perry of Burnsville, MN; son, Paul (Kathy) Krieg of Colesburg; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) McClimon, Chris (Susan) Krieg, Zac and Eli Perry; two great-grandchildren, Lauren McClimon and Brianna Krieg; two sisters, Fern Scheffert of Garber and Diane (David) Hansel of Albion, WA; one brother, Dean Krieg of Edgewood; and sister-in-law, Betty (Donald) Moser. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990; parents; great granddaughter Addison Krieg; two sisters, Mary Krieg and Anita Finnegan; brothers-in-law, Donald Scheffert and John Finnegan; sister-in-law Delores Krieg; and special friend Viola Kickbush.Visitation: Friday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
