Evelyn A. Gaul, 83, of Dubuque, formerly of Worthington, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Stonehill Franciscan Services in Dubuque. Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish vigil will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friends may continue to call at the Kramer Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to her funeral services Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September. 9, 2015, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeffery Dole will officiate. Evelyn was born May 23, 1932 in Dyersville the daughter of Vitus and Josephine (Meyer) Langel. She was united in marriage to John Gaul on October 2, 1950, he preceded her in death on September 1, 2007. They farmed together in Worthington for 35 years. Evelyn belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society in Worthington where she served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. Evelyn volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. Paul School for 20 years. She also owned and operated Lavern’s Style Shoppe in Dyersville for 16 years. After retiring she earned a CNA and worked at Mt. Carmel and Holy Family with the Sisters of St. Francis. She enjoyed helping care for the Sisters and they remain special in her heart. She and John then retired in Tucson, AZ, but returned after four years due to John’s health. She was a devoted care giver to John. Surviving this precious person is her daughter, Nancy (James) Stock of Dubuque, 4 sons: Pat (Nancy) Gaul of Worthington, Tom (Kate) of Dubuque, Dave and fiancé Leanne Collins of Monticello, and Dan of Madisonville, LA; 11 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren Sisters: Marcy Steger, Leona Niehaus, Helen Krogman, Alma (Sylvester) Loesche; Godchildren: Connie Schuster, Allan Klein, and Ed Dunkel. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Janie Marie, parents, husband John, brothers: Sylvester Langel, Raymond Langel, Ambrose Langel, Sisters: Esther Klein, Marie Neuhaus, Lucille Langel. Evelyn specifically wanted to thank her five children, their spouses and grandchildren for always treating her like a “Queen”. The Family wishes to extend special thanks to Dave and Judy Niehaus, Father Loras Otting, Vernon Becker, Angie with Above & Beyond Homecare, Stonehill Nurses and Staff, Hospice of Dubuque, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic.
