Fay Thein

Fay Lorraine (Decker) Thein, age 82, of Garnavillo, IA, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wis. She was born on November 9, 1931, in Boise Idaho to Milo and Vella (Boardman) Decker. When Fay was about one, she and her family moved to Iowa where she grew up and attended school in Waukon. She later moved to Garnavillo when she was a sophomore in high school. On January 18, 1949, Fay married Richard Thein in Monona Iowa. Together they were blessed with six children. For many years, Fay worked as an office manager for the Elkader Veterinary Clinic. Fay's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies and great grandbabies. Fay is survived by her husband of 64 years Richard Thein; five children, Ron (Jane) Thein, Sandy (Mike) Dingbaum, Mick (Peg) Thein, Dale Thein and Troy (Muff) Thein; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Gloria Priem, Judy Waddell and Charles Decker; two step brothers, Gaylen and Arlyn Harberts and many other relatives and friends. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, daughter and son in law, Shirley (Brian) Buhrow; three brothers, Leslie, John and Milo Decker.A luncheon will follow the graveside service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo,Iowa.Graveside Service: Saturday 11:00 A.M.
