Florence Anna Mae "Flossie" (Ratterman) Eilers was called to her heavenly home on June 21, 2017 at 100 years young. Flossie was born on May 17, 1917 in Dubuque to Wilhelmina (Fest) and Theodore Ratterman. Florence attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Dubuque through the 8th grade, graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy and furthered her education at Clark College. On September, 13, 1941, Florence was united in marriage to Eulogius "Bud" Eilers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque. Together they were blessed with seven children and celebrated 50 years of marriage before Buds passing in 1992. She worked in the book binding department for the Telegraph Herald for a few years before raising her children became her full time job. In her 100 years, Flossie saw the world change in many ways, but always maintained a deep faith in God and close relationships with her family and friends. She was a kind and generous soul who volunteered for many causes over the years. Flossie loved to play bingo and always enjoyed a spirited game of cards. She had a sharp mind, and was a fierce competitor, even in her final days. Flossie was a long time member of the St. Annes Society, enjoyed quilting with the St. Marys Ladies, was a member of the Pinochle Club and loved tending to her vegetables and flowers. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Jim (Mary Ellen) Eilers of Hamilton, Montana; Richard (Jeannie) Eilers and Theodore (Doris) Eilers, both of Guttenberg; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eulogius "Bud" Eilers; her daughters Sue Diesch and Barb Eilers; her sons Thomas and John Eilers; grandsons Chuck Eilers and Travis Bolsinger; great grandson Austin Gerner; seven siblings: Freda, Joe, Daniel, John, Ruth and Leo Ratterman and Rose Esser. In Lieu of flowers and other styles of sympathy, Flossie had requested that memorials be given to either St. Marys Catholic School or the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in her honor.
