Florence Scherbring

Survivors include her son, Terry (Twyla) Scherbring of Oelwein, Iowa, a daughter, Becky (Carl) Schwendinger, of Dyersville; 9 grandchildren: Melissa and Matt Scherbring, both of Bettendorf, Kate Scherbring of Milwaukee, Sarah, Allyson and Lauren Schwendinger, all at home, Brenda (Lars) Antholz of Sunnyvale, CA, Benjamin (Stacey) Scherbring, Bryan (Becky) Scherbring, both of Omaha; 2 sisters: Grace Wieneke of Dyersville, and Ruth Green of Dubuque; brothers and sisters in law: Cindy Burger of Worthington, Jean Burger of Marshfield, WI, Myra Rausch of Dyersville, Paul (Verna) Scherbring of Petersbure and Jim (Janice) Scherbring of Colesburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred "Fritz" Scherbring in 1979, a son, Robert Scherbring in 2001, a grandson, Sam Schwendinger; 3 brothers: Charles Burger, Ray Burger, and Robert Burger; 2 sisters: Helen Jarding and Lucille Hess; one brother in law, Urban Scherbring and a sister-in-law, Eunice Scherbring. Florence was born on September 15, 1916 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Mayme (Tobin) Burger. Florence graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1934 then attended the University of Dubuque to attain her teaching certificate and taught at Gearhart School. Florence also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Untz for many years and volunteered as a host maker at the Basilica. She married Wilfred "Fritz" Scherbring on September 23, 1946, in San Francisco, California.
