Floyd Henry Dutka

Floyd Henry Dutka, age 77, of Maquoketa, IA, formerly of Garnavillo, IA, died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, IA. He was born the son of Peter and Marion (Thein) Dutka on April 28, 1935 on the home farm in Clayton County. Floyd received his education from the Volga Township and Garnavillo Country Schools. On August 2, 1958, Floyd married Darlene Tuecke at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with five wonderful children. Over the next several years Floyd farmed while Darlene helped out and made a home for their growing family. When Floyd was able, he enjoyed spending time fishing, woodworking and being outdoors enjoying all that nature had to offer. Floyd leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Darlene; five children, Shirley (Roger) Balk of Garnavillo, Vern Dean Dutka of Bagley Wis, Floyd Kevin (Tonya) Dutka and Mary (LaVern) Spiker both of Garnavillo and Cheryl Dutka of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Whittle of Elkader and Gwen Durni of Platteville Wis; one sister in law, Ruth Dutka of Farmersburg. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elwood, Donald, Calvin and David Dutka; two granddaughters, Melissa and Rosilie Dutka.Memorial Service: Monday 10:30 A.M.
