Frances Thiese

Frances Esther Pauline (Dahms) Thiese was born the daughter of Walter and Martha (Topel) Dahms on May 16, 1915, on a farm near Milford, Wisconsin. She passed away Wednesday January 3, 2007 at the Minnesota Masonic Home Care Center in Bloomington MN. Frances was baptized on June 1, 1915 in St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Wisconsin by Rev. J. Martin Rausch. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 13, 1930, in the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg by Rev. Emil Lehne. Her family moved to Watertown, Wisconsin, where she began her schooling at St. Marks Lutheran Church School up until 1923. Then they moved to Guttenberg where her parents were in the photography business. She entered the Guttenberg Public School in the third grade. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1934. She married Ernst Thiese on April 25, 1936 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, by the Rev. Martin Peters. They were blessed with four children. They started their first five years of marriage in Dubuque. In 1941 they moved to the Pleasant Ridge farm in Clayton County, which was owned by his father and later owned by them. They lived there up until the fall of 1967 when they moved to Garnavillo. In 1986, they then moved to Farmersburg. Frances was a member of the Guttenberg Town Band, High School Orchestra, Girls Glee Club, the Church choir, Luther League; she was a Sunday School teacher and was one of the first organist for Trinity Lutheran Church from 1930-1936. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Norma (Eldo) Trede of Phoenix, AZ, Arlene Garstkiewicz of Phoenix AZ, Loraine Haller of Richfield MN; one son Jerry (Carlene) Thiese of Eden Prairie MN; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband Ernst, parents, twin sister Esther Schoenher and infant sister PaulineVisitation: Saturday 6:00-8:00 P.M.
