Francis John Johnson

Francis John Johnson, age 81, passed away at his home in Guttenberg, Monday, July 16, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1926 in Bernard Iowa, the son of Henry and Margaret (Decker) Johnson. Francis received his education locally and farmed his entire life till his retirement. On January 30, 1951 Francis was united in marriage with Dorothy Zoller at St. Donatus. Nine days later in entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until November of 1952 where he received an honorable discharge. Francis returned home to farm fulltime and together he and Dorothy were blessed with seven children. In his free time Francis enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, working with his flowers and watching the Chicago White Sox play ball. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; seven children, Rick (Phoebe) Johnson of Osterdock, Nancy (Harley) Troester of Dickeyville WI, Ted (Lisa) Johnson of Osterdock, Tom (Sheila) Johnson of Guttenberg, Judy (Jeff) Guth of Sparta TN, Sandi (Mark) White of Colesburg and Jean (Keith) Schares of Johnston IA; twenty one grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; six sisters, Loretta Ronek, Rita Kremer, Eleanor (Eldon) Schueller, Lucille Schmitt, Katheryn (John) Tigges, Geraldine (Melvin) Anthony; one brother Henry (Maxine) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Ralph and one granddaughter Stacy Johnson.
