Francis Matt

Francis Henry "Fritz" Matt was born the son of Louis Jr. and Anna (Fisher) Matt, June 16, 1929, on the family farm near St. Olaf. He died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Fritz graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1948; served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict; farmed with his family and owned and operated J-Wood Camp Grounds for many years. On December 27, 1952, he was united in marriage with Rosemary Frommelt at St. Marys Church in Guttenberg. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Jeff (Lois) Matt of Shell Rock, and Joel (Katie) Matt of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; three sisters, Sister Edith Matt of Dubuque, Vivian Hebb of Sarasota, Florida, and Annette Matt of Midlothian, Illinois; one brother, Louis (Amy) Matt, III of Garnavillo; two granddaughters, Liberty (Scott) Munson of Issaquah, Washington, and Tomorra (Jeff) Wessel of Central City; and two great-grandchildren, Lafe and Jeralyn Wessel of Central City.Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M.
