Frank Hyde

Frank Elmer Hyde, Jr., age 83, of Guttenberg, formerly of Colesburg, IA, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on May 28, 1929 in Osterdock to Frank Elmer Sr. and Elsie (Smith) Hyde. Frank attended and graduated from the Colesburg High School in 1947. On November 14, 1950, Frank was united in marriage with Betty Grom at the Colesburg United Methodist Church. This marriage blessed them with two daughters, Susan and Julie. For the next several years, Frank and Betty made their home near Colesburg while farming together. Frank was a field man for MidAmerica Dairymen for 10 years following dairy and crop farming. Frank served on the board of directors for Farmers Savings Bank and NITT. He was an avid golfer and an accomplished woodworker. Frank spent his entire life being involved with the Bethel Cemetery whether it was marking out graves, chasing gofers or just keeping it up so it displayed the class and respect it deserved. Frank enjoyed his family and friends and was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Frank is survived by his wife Betty; one daughter, Susan (Charles) Clayton of Colesburg; grandson Derrick Clayton; granddaughter Jill Clayton; great grandson Keegan Clayton and several nieces, nephews and friends.
