Survivors include 3 sons, Dan (Barb Digman) of New Vienna, IA, Dick (Sandy Gaul) of Holy Cross, IA, Joe (Joyce Steffensmeier) of Bankston, IA; 1 daughter, Mae (Duane) Kluesner of Holy Cross, IA; 14 grandchildren: Jay Kluesner, Tony (Abby Hefel) Davidshofer, Kari (Kevin Krogman) Davidshofer, Brad (Dawn Maurer) Kluesner, Sarah(Keith) Mensen, Denise Kluesner (Jeremy English), Adam Davidshofer (Lynn Roling), Bob Davidshofer (Rosie Then), Amy, Justin, Alyssa and April Davidshofer, Katie and Amanda Davidshofer; 5 great-grandchildren: Emmie Trainor, Toby Kluesner, Calgray Maurer, Tyler and Courtney Mensen; 3 brothers: Walter (Francis) Davidshofer of Worthington, Iowa, Leo (Joyce) Davidshofer of Dubuque, Iowa and James Davidshofer of Farley, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Clara, on August 31, 1998. Fred was born on January 20, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Leo & Hyacinth (Kramer) Davidshofer. He married Clara "Toots" Goedken on August 28, 1951 in Worthington, Iowa. He was a farmer in the Holy Cross area and was a mechanic for Heitz and Kirkwood. Fred delivered the Telegraph Herald in Northern Dubuque and Southern Clayton Counties. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
