Frederick W. Kann, 88, of Guttenberg, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be held at St. Marys Church, Guttenberg, Saturday, August 4, at 10:00 am with burial in St. Marys cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm 8:00 pm at the Tuecke/Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg. Visitation will also be held at St. Marys one hour before Mass. He was born February 21, 1924 on a farm west of Guttenberg, son of Gregor X and Anna Miller Kann. He married Rosemary Wachendorf on January 29, 1945 at Immaculate Conception Church, North Buena Vista; she preceded him in death on March 6, 2009. Fritz was a World War II Army Sergeant veteran serving in the Philippines, and Korea. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He farmed his entire life first at Ryan, then Garber and for the last 62 years at Leaf Road, Guttenberg. Fritz was a lifetime member of St. Marys Church, Knights of Columbus, Amvets, the American Legion, Farm Bureau, Miraculous Medal Association, and the Maryknoll Missionaries Associate. He spent many hours volunteering at St. Marys Church and School. His greatest joys in life were farming with his wife and their family, visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, an evening of dancing at Lakeside, a good euchre game, sunrises and sunsets. Grandchildren will always remember grandpas one liners, his political analysis, history lessons and dry sense of humor! Surviving are his children Fred L., Patricia A. (Jerry Kolker) Richard A. (Rosalyn Ramler), Dianne L. (Fred Walke), Greg D. (Lori Ludens), Mary S.( Richard Eulberg ), William J. Gary E., Jane R. Parker, Nancy J. (Clay Nuehring), Brian R. (Melissa Larson), 32 grandchildren and 31great grandchildren; three siblings Donald (Helen) Kann, Owen Kann and Jeanette Berns. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph, April 24, 1977 and John, May 14, 2009, one grandson Daniel Kann, one great grandson Aiden Kolker, two brothers, Virgil and Duane Kann, one sister, Arlene St. John, one daughter-in-law, Trudy Wessels Kann.Memorials may be directed to St. Marys School or the Clayton Ridge Kann Family Memorial Award or plant a tree in his memory.Visitation: Friday 3:00 - 8:00 P.M.
