GUTTENBERG, IOWA

Gary Edward Kann, 67, of Guttenberg, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his home in Guttenberg.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Guttenberg on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Funeral mass will commence at 11 a.m.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Guttenberg.

Gary was born on July 3, 1957, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Frederick and Rosemary (Wachendorf) Kann. Gary graduated from Guttenberg High School. He was dedicated to the hardworking life of a dairy farmer. It was his life-long passion. He enjoyed family gatherings, four wheeling, bicycling, and the planting and harvesting seasons. He was known for his excitement during bingo, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeye games.

Survivors include his brothers: Fred, Dick (Rosie), Greg (Lori), Bill, Brian; sisters: Pat Kolker, Mary (Rick) Eulberg, Jane (Joe Vorwald) Parker, Nancy (Clay) Nuehring, all of Guttenberg, and Dianne (Fred) Walke of Dubuque; and many admiring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Joe and John; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Kolker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kann Scholarship at Clayton Ridge School or a memorial of your choice.
