Gene Phyllis Gallant

Obituary Gene Phyllis (Palmer) Gallant, age 96, of Clayton, IA, died Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 6, 1926, in rural Garnavillo, the daughter of James and Hazel (Ausman) Palmer. Gene grew up in the Garnavillo area where she graduated from the Garnavillo High School with the class of 1944. Gene resided in New Brunswick, Canada for the past 25 years and returned to Iowa in 2019 after the passing of her last husband Frank Gallant. Gene had a passion for many activities including, sewing, painting, crocheting, crafting, playing cards and she loved to read. She would volunteer at the local thrift shop and loved spending time with her family & friends sharing all her favorite jokes. Gene will be forever loved and cherished by her children, Phylis (Steven) Hungate of Benton Harbor, Mich, James (Carolyn) Sands of Kalamazoo, Mich, Toni Schultz of Clayton IA, Terrie (Kathy) Sands of Killeen TX & Kim Sands of Prairie du Chien WIs; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Pirri; grandchild, Michael Pirri; brothers, Dale & Lesley Palmer; spouses, CJ Sands, Donat Godin & Frank Gallant.
