Geraldine Steil

Geraldine L. "Gerry" Steil, 77, on North Buena Vista, IA died Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a brief bout with cancer. Geraldine was born July 28, 1930 the daughter of Leona Gillen-Cummings in Dubuque, Iowa and was primarily raised by William and Ella Cummings. She married John A. Steil on April 20, 1949 in Dubuque and lived there briefly until moving to the Millville area. Gerry enjoyed quilting and playing cards. She is survived by 4 children: Dave (Pat) Steil of Colesburg, IA, Karen Steil (Ed Meyer) of Millville, IA, Keith (Kim) Steil of Olathe, KS and Kim (Joe) Graybeal of Haltom City, TX; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Joyce Cartmill, Helen Hedrick, Margie (Marty) Bowerman and Lois Ronek; 4 brothers: Jim Cummings, Ralph (Donna) Cummings, Ken (Carol) Cummings and Don (Kay) Waller. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, a son, John, Jr. 1982, and a special friend, Maurice Barry in 1999, and a sister, Lorraine Ronek.
