Glen Wilhelm

Survivors include two brothers: Gus (Mary Ann) of Dyersville, Dan (Lois) of Cedar Rapids, IA, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Wilhelm of Dyersville, his friend and caretaker, An Pham of Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: James and Earl Wilhelm. Glen was born on December 16, 1925, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Gustave B. and Lydia (Fangman) Wilhelm. He attended St. John's School for the Deaf in Milwaukee, Wis. and the Iowa School for the deaf at Council Bluffs, Iowa. When he returned to Dyersville after school he began working at Silver Streak Manufacturing until the factory closed. He then became the custodian at Beckman High School until his retirement. Friends may call from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville where funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse. Memorials are preferred to Beckman High School.
