Gwendolyn Faye Vorwald

Gwendolyn Faye (Schlake) Vorwald was born the daughter of John and Carrie (Loeseke) Schlake, December 3, 1914, in Jefferson Township in Clayton County. She died Friday, September 23, 2005, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Faye attended Borcherding Country School and graduated from the Guttenberg High School. On April 29, 1932 she was united in marriage with Edward "Deak" Vorwald at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Garnavillo. Together they farmed on various farms near Garnavillo, before moving to Garnavillo in 1969, where she lived until her death. Faye enjoyed baking, quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and their visits. Those left to cherish her memory are; one sister in law, Alice Stence and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Bernita Schrandt and Bernadine Hagen, and one brother Leighton Schlake.Visitation: 5:00-8:00 P.M.
