Harlan Herkes

Obituary Harlan Raymond Herkes, age 93, of Guttenberg, IA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at his home. He was born November 25, 1926 to Neil Herkes and Mable (Ehlers) in Dubuque Iowa. On February 8, 1945 Harlan joined the military and served his country in Japan during WWII, he was later discharged on November 14, 1946 at Ft. Campbell KY. After his retirement from John Deere Dubuque Works in the early 80s he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and was an active member of St. Marys Church. Harlan is survived by his wife Shirley, step children; Patricia (Phillip) Kulper, Dianna Backes, James (Brenda) Kimball, Kirjah Amanatea, Michael (Cindy) Wisher, Karen Secory, numerus grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Neil Herkes. Harlan is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Jeanette, his first wife Una in 2003. Services Private Family Services at a later date
