Helen Anna Stickfort, age 92, of Garnavillo, IA, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at her daughters home in Cedar Rapids, where shes lived for the past five months. She was born one of eleven children on December 19, 1920 on the home farm west of McGregor. Helen received her education from the country school near their home. On October 9, 1948, Helen married Verni Stickfort in Dubuque. This marriage blessed them with two children. Helen loved to garden, she enjoyed all children especially grand & great grand children and all her nieces and nephews. Her favorite "hobby" would be to try and bake the perfect loaf of bread or cinnamon rolls and she and her daughter were ever in search of the perfect cup of coffee. Helen is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Lester) Engler of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Derek (Brooke) Engler, Megan, Erica & Delta Stickfort, Chelsea (John) Hoerner; 3 great grandsons, Henry, Charlie and Christian; step grandchildren, Kip, Kim and Bob; three sisters, Donna Mae, Marcella and June and several nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Verni; son Carl Stickfort, one step grandson, Kyle; siblings, Stacia, Raymond, Thomas, James, Charles, Irene and Loretta.Visitation: Tuesday 1:00 - 3:30 P.M.
