Survivors include two sons: Steve (Christa) Leyendecker of Mt. Prospect, IL, Rick (Karla Cigrand) Leyendecker of Iowa City, IA; seven daughters: Rose (Nick) Wolfe of Cascade, IA, Marge (LeRoy) Gassmann of Asbury, IA, Jean (Richard) Polfer and Linda (David) Burger both of Worthington, IA, Judy (Jerry) Lammers of Dyersville, IA, Mary Leyendecker of Hazel Park, MI, Kathy (Patrick) Hayes of Simpsonville, SC; two step-daughters: Janet (Lee) Schoenbeck of Wilmington, DE, Joyce (Mike) O'Brien of Cascade, IA; 34 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Dorothy Cool of Sun City, CA, Vi (Bob) Frasher of Guttenberg, IA, Rita (Joe) Beck and Margaret (Bernie) Ernzen both of Dubuque, IA; one brother, George (Bernadine) Dehner of Clinton, IA; two sisters-in-law: Helen Dehner of Alton, IA and Lucille Till of Cascade, IA. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ed Dehner, two sisters, Mary Knepper and Florence Dehner in infancy, and two grandsons, Jeff Lammers and Mark Schoenbeck. Irene was born on June 16, 1917 in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret (Hemmer) Dehner. She married Silverius Leyendecker on October 19, 1937. Together they farmed south of Worthington for many years. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1958. On January 22, 1966 she married Francis Till. Together they owned and operated Till Hardware and Till-Didesch Funeral Home. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1976. She continued to run the hardware store until it was destroyed by fire in 1980. She also operated the funeral home until she retired in 1992.
