Ivanell Mueller

Ivanell Rose Mueller was born the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Wilker) Breitsprecher on August 6, 1924 in Clayton Center. She passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Ivanell was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, Iowa. She received her education from the country school in Clayton Center. On September 3, 1942, she married Harold L. Mueller at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. Their marriage was blessed with ten children. While the majority of Ivys life was spent being a homemaker, she also worked for 24 years at the Kountry Manor and later at the Garnavillo Public Library. Ivy was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo and the Ladies Aid. She spent many years volunteering for the St. Paul Church Fair Stand where she baked many cherry, apple and peach pies. Her great talent for cooking and baking was appreciated by her family at the many family gatherings that she loved so much. Ivy was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the Clay-Gar American Legion Auxiliary. Her love of life included family time and dancing with her husband. She had a wonderful sense of humor and the patience of a saint. Ivy will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years, Harold L. Mueller; five daughters, Kay (Lynn) Ihde and Kathy (Wayne) Helle both of Garnavillo, Sue (Lee) Connell of Cedar Rapids, Amy (Pastor Bruce) Wrightsman of Decorah, Heidi (Charles) Berns of Coralville; three sons, Dennis (Denise) Mueller of DeWitt, Bruce (Bonnie) Mueller of Coralville and Craig (Mary) Mueller of Cedar Rapids; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law Mildred Breitsprecher of Oelwein. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Dottie Lou in infancy, one son David in Viet Nam, two brothers and four sisters.
