Ivanelle Stoeffler

Ivanelle (Ivy) Cecelia (Gassman) Stoeffler, age 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Manor Care Health Services in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was born the daughter of Fred Sr. and Dolly (Carrier) Gassman on August 20, 1926 in Dubuque Iowa. Ivy received her education in the Dubuque Community. On November 27, 1947, she was married to Donald Stoeffler at St. Marys Catholic Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with three daughters. Together they raised their family in Guttenberg until they moved to Postville. After Donald passed away, Ivanelle moved to Castalia. For the last ten years, Ivy lived back in Guttenberg until moving closer to her daughters in Cedar Rapids this summer. Over the years Ivy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed baking, crafts, spending time at the slot machines at the casino and spending time with her family. She and a group of ladies would get together at city hall in Guttenberg and play euchre. They also shared their card game with the residents at the Guttenberg Care Center. Ivy will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Suzette (Gerald) Bower and Ivy (Brian) Heins both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jerry Bower, Terry (Raechel) Esser, Wendy (Nate) Greene, Michael and Nick Heins; two great grandchildren, Max and Sam Greene; siblings, Delores Gordon, Anna Mae Hamann, Shirley Plagman, Sue (Keith) Sauegling, son-in-law Matt Esser and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Connie Esser; three sons in infancy; five siblings, Rosemary Radtke, Vonnie Jelinek, Peter Gassman, Paul Gassman, Butch Gasman and special friend Vern Kamp.In Lieu of flowers donations would be preferred to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
