Jacklyn Jean "Jackie" (Rutledge) Meyer was born on April 28, 1944 in Elkader to Merlin and Helene (Amsden) Rutledge. Jackie attended Elkport School and graduated from Central High School in Elkader in 1962. She worked at Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids and married Gary Thrane in 1965. Two children were born to this union. She spent several years as a single mother and worked at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. In 1992, Jackie met and married her true soul mate, Allan Ray Meyer. She welcomed two more children into her care. Jackie raised her children with tough love, teasing and laughter. She enjoyed reading, crafts, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was Elkport town treasurer and also treasurer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport until the flood took their home in 2004. She and Allan then made their home in Elkader. Jackie is survived by her husband, Allan Ray Meyer of Elkader; her children: Brian Thrane, Shanna (Aaron) Schroeder of Elkader, Davean Gregory of Manchester and Daniel Meyer(Kendolynn Kirby) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren: Jovi Thrane of Cedar Rapids, Careena, Alexa and Zachary Schroeder of Elkader; Andrea Holtz of Cedar Rapids; Stephen, Jonathan and Korey Gregory of Manchester; her brothers, Gary Rutledge of Decorah, Kent Rutledge of Georgia, and Terry (Gracie) Rutledge of Manchester; and her sister, Julie (Dave Gerner) Moody of Garber; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. and friends. Her parents and a brother-in-law, George Moody, preceded her in death. She placed herself "In Gods Hands" on November 14th after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.Visitation: Friday 3:00-8:00 P.M.
