James Joseph Pape, age 80, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1933, in Dubuque IA, the son of Peter and Katherine (Koster) Pape. Jim attended Loras Academy and Loras College interrupting his second year to enlist in the US Air Force. After completing four years of active duty at the end of the Korean War he returned to Dubuque and finished college. Jim spent his life in the manufacturing sector, and heavy machining working his way up the ladder to Production Manager and Manufacturing Manager. His first job was with John Deere in Dubuque. In the 60's he worked at several companies in Rockford, IL among them MGD Graphics bought by Rockwell. He later had a good offer on the east coast from Warner Swasey Grinding Co and spent twenty five years on the east coast working for companies in Worcester, MA, Flemington NJ, and Gloucester, MA and retiring in 2000. Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Pape; one daughter, Rhonda Librandi; one son, Steve Pape; two granddaughters, Jillian and Olivia Librandi. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Barbara Murphy.Graveside Service: Wednesday 11:00 A.M.
