James P. "Jimmy" McLane was born the son of Loraine and Clarissa (Wille) McLane, February 18, 1957, in Guttenberg. He died Saturday, August 25, 2007, near Clayton, following a motorcycle accident. Jim graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1975, and attended Kirkwood Community College. He worked as an auto mechanic and welder, and was a member of the Garnavillo Fire Department. Jim enjoyed boating on the Mississippi, working in his garage and spending time with family and friends. On October 12, 1991, he was united in marriage with Cathy at St. Pauls Church in Garnavillo. Survivors include his wife, Cathy; two step-sons, Jared (Mariah) Werger and Jeff (fianc, Jessica Knockel) Werger of Garnavillo; one sister, Cheryl (Robert) Jones of Bloomfield, Iowa; one brother, Patrick (Donna) McLane of Eatonville, Washington; two grandchildren, Adrienne and Benjamin; mother-in-law, Gloria Priem of Garnavillo; six step-sisters, Virginette (Cyril) Frommelt, LuAnn Bries of Guttenberg, Darlene Frommelt of New Vienna, Elaine Bries of Guttenberg, Marcia (Lonnie) Roys of Elkader and Joanne (Dennis) Kuehl of Garnavillo; and one step-brother, Don (Shirley) Goedken of Iowa City.
