Janet Dawson

Beloved wife and mother, Janet R. (Thompson) Dawson, age 71, of Guttenberg, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Marion, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Janet was born the daughter of Claire and Ada (Wood) Thompson, December 30, 1939, in Anamosa, Iowa. Janet graduated from the Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School and attended college. On November 22, 1957, she was united in marriage with Jimmie Dawson in Cedar Rapids. Janet was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, and was a Linn County Master Gardner. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie; two sons, David M. Dawson of Cedar Rapids, and Douglas (Deb) Dawson of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Cecil) Horne of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Diana M. Dawson.Visitation: Wednesday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
