Janet Fraser

Private Funeral services will be held at a later date with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Janet is survived by her husband John Fraser, Jr. of Monticello, daughters, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Rowland of Fort Worth, Texas and Katherine (Jeff) Grimes, of Coralville, Iowa and a son John (Peg McElroy) Fraser of Iowa City, Iowa. Grandson's Michael (Juliana) Rowland and Larry and Isaac Grimes. Two brothers Robert (Lee) Meyer of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Alex (Joanne) Meyer of Jacksonville, Florida. Janet Elizabeth Fraser was born on June 4, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Leon A. and Elizabeth Moffat Meyer. Janet graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in the class of 1941 and attended Coe College. Janet married John Fraser Jr. on September 7, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was active in the community and in politics. Janet served as the first women Mayor of Monticello and as a member of the Iowa Democratic Central Committee. Janet was a member of Chapter FP, of PEO for over 50 years, serving in various leadership roles. She was preceded in death by her parents Leon A. and Elizabeth Meyer.
