Jennie Melvina Chettinger

Jennie Melvina (Kafer) Chettinger was born the daughter of LeRoy and Mable (Hook) Kafer, December 15, 1919, in Woodcenter, Iowa. She died Friday, June 29, 2007, at home near Colesburg. Melvina attended school in Colesburg, farmed with her husband Donald, and was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed tatting, crocheting, and quilting. On December 23, 1937, she was united in marriage with Donald J. Chettinger. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy (Harold) Davis of Garber, Corine (Hank) Moser of Guttenberg, and Karen Chettinger of Virgin Islands; two sisters, Ruthie Easton of Strawberry Point and Mary Ballard of Blossom, Texas; children raised by the Chettingers, Monica DeShaw, Marcella DeShaw, Marty DeShaw, and Mark DeShaw: numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and her dog, Skippy.
