Jerome "Bud" Carrier

Jerome "Bud" Francis Carrier was born the son of Lewis and Hilda (Felder) Carrier on September 20, 1932, in Guttenberg, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a short illness. Bud received his education locally and worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for many years until his retirement in 1984. After retiring Bud kept busy running Carriers Dairy and Homemade Ice Cream, which his father founded many years ago. He also drove school bus. On June 9, 1956, Bud was united in marriage with Carolyn Tomkins at St. Marys Catholic Church in Guttenberg. Following their union they were blessed with seven children. Bud was a member of the UAW and enjoyed repairing air conditioners and refrigerators. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching sports, especially his New York Yankees and finally Bud was the All Time Best Pitcher and Umpire for the Carrier League. Bud will be sadly missed by his wife Carolyn; three daughters, Becky (John) Choiniere of Stillwater, Minn, Cathy (Stan) Hines of Guttenberg, and Lisa (Bill) Robinson of Garnavillo; four sons, Greg (Heidi) Carrier of Iowa City, Chris (Kaye) Carrier of Urbandale, Bruce Carrier of Guttenberg, and Kevin (Kelly) Carrier of Marion; three sisters, Laura Heying of Dubuque, Sister Mary Ann Carrier, and Winifred Fassbinder, both of Guttenberg; one brother, Daniel (Rita) Carrier of Guttenberg; one brother in law, Ray Kleinow of Monticello; ten grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
