Jerome Joseph Schroeder, age 70, of Waupenton formerly of Guttenberg, IA, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Joseph and Eunice (Radamacher) Schroeder on January 20, 1938, in Guttenberg. Jerome graduated from the Guttenberg High School, served in the U.S. Navy in the mid 50s and was stationed on the USS Hornet. He worked on several tow boats in the early 60s and then retired from John Deere after 30 years in 1994. Jerry really enjoyed his time on the Mississippi River. He was a commercial fisherman for many years. Jerome enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his family, grandsons, fishing, hunting, golfing trapping and socializing with his wonderful neighbors and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barb Schroeder; three daughters, Brenda (Scott) Clefisch of Dubuque, Lisa (Tom) Bova of Lisbon, Angela (Greg) Misek of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; three grandsons, Zach and Jake Clefisch and Derek Bova; three nephews and two nieces; one brother, Kenneth "Pibs" (Jody) Schroeder of Guttenberg. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Sharon Harbaugh and one nephew.
