Jerry Rieck

The great commander deployed Jerry A. Rieck of Garnavillo to his final base in heaven on Monday Dec. 14, 2015. Jerry fought the good fight against cancer the last ten years and lost the battle at the Strawberry Lutheran Home at age 69. Jerry was born in Prairie du Chien, WI on Nov. 9, 1946, to George Rieck and Elthear Mary Jane Vanderbilt Rieck. Jerry graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1966. He joined the Army on Jan. 17, 1967. He earned his jump wings and served as medic in Viet Nam for one tour of duty. Jerry was discharged on Jan. 3, 1969. He married Pauline Gander on May 29, 1983. They spent their married life in Prairie du Chien and Garnavillo. Jerry worked for Hiram Walker and logged with his father in his early years. He spent over 20 years working for 3M. In retirement, Jerry worked for local farmers, fished, hunted, and cut fire wood. Jerry was active in veterans organizations and helped veterans whenever he could. Jerry was also active in Boy Scouts with his wife and sons. He took great pride in being a fireman in Garnavillo. His community will miss him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Pauline; children, Brianna, Paul (Janette), George (Katie) and Marypat (Aaron); 10 grandchildren, Danyel, Kaydee, Jaiden, Wiatt, Alexus, Billie, Bryer, Alyee, Amber and Baelyn and many other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce; two sisters, Janet and Georgia Kay in infancy.Memorial Service: Saturday 10:30 A.M.
