John Finnegan

John Finnegan

John Henry Finnegan was born the son of Henry and Elsie (Meyer) Finnegan, August 2, 1923, on the family farm near Osterdock. He died Friday, October 8, 2004, at the family farm following a sudden illness. John graduated from the Colesburg High School in 1940; taught country school; farmed, and was in the logging business for many years. He served as chairman of Clayton County ASCS Committee, Township Trustee and Clerk of Mallory Township for over forty years, R.E.C. Board of Directors, FHA Board of Directors and salesman of Archer Oil for forty years. He enjoyed serving on boards, traveling, meeting people, and was an avid Cubs Fan, and most of all loved spending time with family and friends. On June 25, 1946, he was united in marriage with Anita Krieg at St. Michaels Church in Garber. He is survived by on daughter, Bonnie Hansen (Steve Clark) of Davenport; two sons, Forrest (Marion) Finnegan and Dan (Julie) Finnegan both of Colesburg; six grandchildren, Brenda (Cody Fischer) Finnegan, Brian Finnegan, Ryan Hansen, Raquel Hansen, Joe Finnegan and Courtney Finnegan; two great grandchildren, Travis and Dillon; and special friend, Connie Gull of Elkader. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anita; one brother, Wallace, and one son-in-law, Paul Hansen.
