John Spielbauer

John Spielbauer, age 73, of Guttenberg, IA, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Guttenberg on January 29, 1940, to George and Francis (Rohner) Spielbauer. John grew up in Guttenberg and graduated from the St. Marys High School in 1958. After school John worked at the Box Factory in Guttenberg for several years before he took a job which is now known as the Modernfold Company in Dyersville for many years until his retirement. John was a man who kept to himself much of his life which made reading one of his great enjoyments. John was an avid NASCAR fan and attended the Talladega spring race for 25 years. He also enjoyed taking hunting trips to Colorado, Wyoming and Montana with his brother Danny. John is survived by eleven siblings, Joseph Spielbauer, Arnold (Lorie) Spielbauer, Helen Bolsinger, Frank (Jackie) Spielbauer, Hilda (Dick) Brooks, Lawrence (Ellie) Spielbauer, Cecilia (Vernon) Steger, Dan (Georgia) Spielbauer, Jim (Dorcas) Spielbauer, Tom (Ginger) Spielbauer, Dave Spielbauer and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathleen Eilers and Rose Schultz.Memorial Service: Monday 10:30 A.M.
