Josephine Anderegg

Josephine Pearl (Hankes) Anderegg was born the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pierce) Hankes on September 9, 1910 in Dingesville Iowa. She passed away on Monday, September 25, 2006, at her home in Cedar Rapids, IA Josephine received her education in Dubuque Iowa and was a homemaker for several years. On January 14, 1937 she was united in marriage with Oakley Anderegg at the 1st Congregational Church in Dubuque. To this union they were blessed with five children. Josephine enjoyed sewing, making gifts and baking. She would often bake cookies for the Dyersville Hospital Auxiliary and she was active in the Royal Neighbors Club. Those left to keep Josephines memory alive include her three daughters; Norma Walker of Des Moines, Joyce Anderegg of Marshalltown, Susan (Gary) Aulwes of Cedar Rapids; two sons John (Karen) Anderegg and Steve (Connie) Anderegg both of Guttenberg; thirteen grandchildren, Geoffrey (Kathy) Walker, Robyn and Troy (Patti Lynn) Walker, Mike, Matt and Heather Anderegg, Jason (Joedi), Ryan (Lisa) and Chad (Claire) Aulwes, Debbie (Troy) Meyer, Nikki (Tim) Barker, Kevin (Jen) Anderegg and Gina (Tim) Brown; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Heer of Elkader; two brothers, John Hankes of Elkader and Jim (Arletta) Hankes of Colesburg; two sisters in laws, Gertrude Anderegg of Preston Minn and Muriel Hankes of Charles City Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Elsie Gull and one brother Charles Hankes.The family would like to give a special thanks to Mercy Hospice for the care and compassion they provided for their mother.In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Johns Cemetery, United Methodist Church of Guttenberg or Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville.Visitation: Friday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
