Karen M. Brown, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and formerly of Olathe, KS passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, at Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. Karen was born December 10, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Rosemary (Kramer) Tegeler. She attended Xavier Grade School and graduated from Beckman High School in Dyersville with the class of 1972. Karen worked for various companies in Cedar Rapids as an accountant and most recently at OMC in Olathe, KS. Karen was a strong and passionate person love by her family and those around her. She loved to travel and go on road trips with friends, do it yourself projects, knitting, laugh and to make those around her laugh. Her life has not always been easy, but she has always managed to make the best of things. After several trial and errors at love, she married her childhood sweetheart, Brian Brown. Brian took care of Karen and did his very best to make her comfortable prior to cancer taking her to her maker on October 29, 2018. Karen is survived by her husband, Brian, a step son, Scott Brown and his son, Xander of Edgerton, KS, her siblings: Mark Tegeler of Dyersville, Linda (Dan) Hoerner of Dubuque, Janice (Mark) Furst of Ft, Atkinson, WI and Gary Tegeler of Dubuque, in-laws, outlaws, her best friend, Carolyn Walsh, nieces & nephews: Jeff & Jodi Tegeler, Carlie & Gretta Hoerner, Britta, Tenley, Gretchen Haraldson, great niece, Maddie Tegeler and two great nephews: Max Tegeler and Ivar Spring. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Deb Tegeler. Karen had touched the lives of many, is loved and will be greatly missed. Per Karen’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the charity of choice in memory of her.
