Karen Vera Gates

Obituary Karen Vera Gates, age 62, of Guttenberg, IA, died Monday, December 10, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, IA. She was born on April 8, 1956, the daughter of George and Isabelle Gates. Karen worked at G&G Living Centers/Imagine the Possibilities for the past 24 years and took pride in her work there. Karen enjoyed fishing, swimming, gardening, cooking, and getting together with her family. She was especially well known for her fried chicken and potato salad and this was often requested at family get-togethers. Karen was very proud of her kids and grandkids and loved spending time with them. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kerry (Craig) Martin, Kimberly (David) Allison, Kammy (Richard) Hubbard, Koal McIntyre & Kraig (Kaleena) Allison; grandchildren, Savannah Plagman, Ethan, Mason & Isabelle Martin, Mariah Towell & Ava Allison, Clayton & Lily Hubbard, Daisha & Daryl Allison; siblings Larry Gates, Katherine (Scooper) Gates, Terry Gates, Kate Dundee, Kristine Gates and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Gates.
