Obituary Kathleen Bockenstedt, age 93, died Monday, November 16, 2020, surrounded by family. Kathleen was born in Guttenberg on December 6, 1926 the daughter of Henry and Kathryn (Heck) Fassbinder. After high school she attended college where she went on to receive her teaching certificate, in later years she worked at a radio factory and also at Essers clothing store. On October 6th 1949 Kathleen married the love of her life Louis Bockenstedt at St. Marys Catholic Church in Guttenberg, Iowa they had a beautiful 37 years together and six children until Louis passed away on December 23, 1986. Kathleen was a member of the Red Hat Club and Book Club. Kathleen enjoyed baking, gambling on occasion, playing 500 rummy and watching Wheel of Fortune. Her cinnamon rolls and pumpkin pie were the best. She requested weekly delivery of Triscuit triangle crackers, Dove chocolate and Pepsi by family when they came to visit at River Living Center where she lived. Kathleen was a loving, caring and kind woman. She loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her much happiness. She will be forever remembered and missed by family and friends. Left to cherish her memories are her six children and their families: Ann Ostry of Blaine MN, Gene Bockenstedt of Guttenberg IA, Lois Moser of Overland Park KS, Duane (Lyneva) Bockenstedt of Greeley, IA, Janet Bockenstedt of Coon Rapids MN, and Roger (Dawn) Bockenstedt of Guttenberg, IA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Louis, parents Henry and Kathryn Fassbinder and two brothers Gerald and Henry Fassbinder. Due to Covid-19 concerns the family will be having a private family mass at St. Marys Catholic Church. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
