DYERSVILLE, IOWA Kathleen “Kay” Krapfl entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 8 2016, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 3 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Wed. from 9 – 10 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wed. Dec. 14, 2016, St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeff Dole will officiate. Kathleen was born June 4, 1927, in Dyersville the second child of fifteen children of Edward and Marie (Kluesner) Bartels. Kay was born, raised and lived her entire 89 years in the place she called home, Dyersville. On January 13, 1951 she married Roy J. Krapfl at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Twelve children were born to this union. She was the proud grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 10. Kay’s entire life was spent devoted to her family. A sweet and special lady, she greeted everyone with her warm and loving smile. Kay enjoyed life with what matters most – just the simple everyday moments. Survivors include her children: Keith (Becky) Krapfl of Dubuque, Kathy (Kerry) Trimble of Waterloo, Vicky (Wayne) Wessels of Manchester, Jackie (Glen) Naber of Eldridge, IA, Kevin Kartel, Tammy (Jeff) Osterhaus, Lisa Krapfl, Kim (Karl) Loeffelholz, Karri Krapfl, and Jennifer (Steve) Wessels, all of Dyersville; 18 grandchildren: Kelly, Jason, Christina, Katie, Kallie, Mollie, Michelle, Megan, Ashley, Morgan, Samantha, McKenzie, Ben, Kayla, Brooke, Natalie, Lauren and Jack; 10 great grandchildren; 12 siblings: Rosemary Frericks, Emily, Joan, Dale and Bill “Woody” , all of Dyersville, Doris Crow of Dubuque, Patricia Bartels of Elk Horn, WI, Marlene (Steve) McAleer of Monticello, Bevlin Bartels of Hazel Green, WI, Joyce (Frank) Caruso of The Villages, FL, John “Zoobie” Bartels of Moore, OK, Nancy (Burt) Fairchild of Woodbury, MN; in-laws: Paul Kramer, Gary (Maggie) Kraft, Lucy (Jerry) LaBonte, and Gil Basnik. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy in 1987, two sons: Dean in 1992, and Dale in 2007, daughter-in-law, Maria Kartel; siblings: Phyllis Bartels and Myrna Carty, several brothers-and-sisters-in-law, and a nephew. The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Crest Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent and compassionate care. Memorials are preferred to Camp Courageous of Iowa or Beckman High School.
