Kathleen Osterhaus

Kathleen M. Osterhaus, 81, of Petersburg passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville. Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9-10 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017, SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate. Kathleen was born October 19, 1935, in Petersburg the daughter of August and Rose (Thole) Knipper. She married Laverne M. Osterhaus on June 12, 1956, in Petersburg. Together they farmed near Petersburg for 25 years until moving to town. She was a cook at SS Peter & Paul School and they managed the Petersburg Parish Hall for over 20 years. Later they moved to the Ellen Kennedy Center in 2014. Kathleen was a lifelong member of SS Peter & Paul Parish and their Choir. Survivors include her 6 children: Gary (Deb) Osterhaus of Petersburg, Jane (Joyce Bonifas) Osterhaus of Dubuque, Carl (Debbie) Osterhaus of Rosemount, MN, Pat (Patsy) Osterhaus of Petersburg, Lori (Tim) Daly of Bankston, Tammy (Eric McClintock) Osterhaus of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren: Chad (Kris) Osterhaus, Kurt (Christy) Osterhaus, Lara (Shawn Summer) Osterhaus, Jordan and Baylee Osterhaus, Ashley (Jimmy Geerts) Osterhaus and Leah (Nick Burger) Osterhaus, Jimmy and Eric Boeckenstedt Sarah (Jordan) Kluesner; 6 great grandchildren and two more due later this year; a brother, Rick (Janie) Knipper; in-laws: Venita Knipper, Julia Knipper, Charlotte Knipper, Gladys Osterhaus and Rosemary Klein. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Laverne in 2015, 2 grandchildren: Greg Osterhaus in 1984, and Abby Osterhaus in 1999; siblings: Laverne (Alice) Knipper, Gilbert (Viola) Knipper, Ralph Knipper, Joe (Norma) Knipper, Walter (Nellie) Knipper and Mary Knipper in infancy; in-laws: Lester Osterhaus, Marie (Mickey) Domeyer, Raymond Osterhaus in infancy, Ambrose (Emily) Osterhaus, Omer (Elaine) Osterhaus, Julanda (Lawrence) Koch, Gene Osterhaus, Daniel (Virgie) Domeyer and Dick Klein.
