Kenneth S Schmelzer

Kenneth S. Schmelzer was born the son of Henry and Catherine (Egleseder) Schmelzer, October 30, 1922, on the family farm near Garnavillo. He died Monday, November 7, 2005, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. Kenneth graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1940, and farmed with his family for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and enjoyed cards, roller-skating, fishing, and spending time with family. On June 19, 1965, he was united in marriage with Marjonell Garaghty at St. Marys Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjonell; one daughter, Kathy (Todd) Ihde of Garnavillo; two sons, Jeff Schmelzer of Elkader, and Doug Schmelzer of Garnavillo, two step daughters, Sue Riegel of Highland, California, and Judy Manning of Spring, Texas; two step-sons, Dennis (Susan) Troester of Dubuque, and Richard (Kay) Troester of Elkader; one sister, Angeline (Robert) Berns of Garnavillo and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irene Behrend, and two brothers, Oliver and Lorraine.Visitation: 4:00-8:00 P. M.
