Kermit J. Dubbels, age 91, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 10, 1923 in Guttenberg, the son of Horace and Josephine (Wenkstern) Dubbels. Kermit grew up in Guttenberg where he attended and graduated from High School. Kermit served his country proudly during WWII and was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp on January 3, 1946. On July 30, 1949, Kermit was married to Beverly McKinney who lived next door to his aunt in Cedar Rapids. Kermit worked for Bucky and Tillie Harris at the Princess Theater until he purchased it from the Harris family in 1954. In December of 1967, the Princess Theater closed and Kermit went to work for General Cinema in Dubuque where he worked until his retirement in 1988. Following his retirement, Kermit drove cars for Browns Sales and Leasing, bringing them back from dealer trades and auctions, and driving classic cars to auto shows. Kermit enjoyed the simple things in life such as a long car ride, being on the Mississippi River either for a boat ride or fishing and he rarely missed morning coffee at the Stadium with his good friends. Kermit will be forever loved and cherished by his five children, Diane (Don) Peters, Greg (Reecie) Dubbels, Debbie Eller, Lynda Frangipane and Tracy (Stan) Reitz; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Janice Frommelt and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly on November 23, 2013 and one son Randy.Memorial Service: Thursday 10:30 A.M.
