Laverne Plagman

LaVerne Charles Plagman, age 72, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at his home following a sudden illness. He was born the son of LaVerne H. and Minnie (Bottleman) Plagman, July 6, 1934, near Edgewood, Iowa. LaVerne received his education locally and worked for the Clayton County as a road foreman for many years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. On May 28, 1955, he was united in marriage with Shirley Gassman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, four daughters, Lila (Huston) Irvin of Sheridan, Ill., LaVonne Evanson of Ottawa, Ill., Wendy (Kenton) Schanbeck of Guttenberg, and Mary Cook of Independence, IA., five sons, Robert (Cindy) Plagman of Earlville, Ill., Charles (Geronda) Plagman of Independence, Mo., Peter Plagman of Monona, IA., Andy (Stacey) Plagman of Elkader, and LaVern (Jenny) Plagman Jr. of Guttenberg, one brother, Henry Plagman of Arlington, IA., thirty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many friends.
