Lee Winfield Kasten

Lee Winfield Kasten, age 91, of Garnavillo, IA, formerly of Babbitt Minnesota died Monday, December 10, 2012, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader, IA. He was born the son of George and Mabel (McNee) Kasten on July 13, 1921, in Spring Valley MN. Lee received his education at the Spring Valley Country School. Lee served his country in the United States Marines from May 8, 1942 till he received his honorable discharge on May 9, 1946. For many years after, Lee was an Iron Ore Miner. On June 16, 1946, Lee was united in marriage in Austin Minn, to the love of his life that he met at a dance, Muriel Conklin. This union blessed them with two children. For many years, Lee and Muriel enjoyed attending dances together. Lee also was a member of the church board and the American Legion. In his free time Lee enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with friends and family. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Linda (Lanny) Kuehl of Garnavillo; three grandchildren, Danelle, Lance (Nikki), Darci; two great-grandchildren, Lane and Keegan; sister Marjorie Grimoskos of Tipton IA and many other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Dale, sister Dorothy Barnap and brother Wesley Kasten.In Lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, memorials may be sent to Prairie du Chien Hospice, Central Community Hospital Foundation or the Central Community Ambulance.Visitation: Saturday 10:00 - 11:45 A.M.
