Leora Willenbring

Leora was born on April 15, 1921, in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of William and Josephine (Hoefer) Meis. She graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College and started teaching in the country school system until she met and married Lester Willenbring on September 21, 1948, in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they farmed west of Dyersville until retirement. They enjoyed going out for dinner and parties. Survivors include her sister, Jeanette (Elmer) Hilkin of Dubuque, a sister-in-law, Florence Meis of Dyersville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester, a brother, Joseph Meis, and a sister, Helen in infancy, brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Emery and Flavia Willenbring and Ambrose and Jeanette Weber. Friends may call from 3 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Quint.
