Leroy Meyer

Survivors include his wife Virgean, a son Dan (Donna) Meyer of Dyersville, one daughter Susie (Wayne) Schumacher of Dubuque, 7 grandchildren: Ted Meyer, Annie Hauskins, Kate Meyer, Scott Meyer, Brad, Rod and Leslie Schumacher and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Meyer and his wife, Carol and a brother, Elmer Meyer and his wife, Marie. Thank you to the staff at Oak Crest Leroy was born on October 31, 1915, the son of Peter and Agnes (Heisler) Meyer. He married Virgean (Koelker) on December 27, 1945. Leroy was co-owner of Meyer's Tavern for approximately 40 years with his brother Elmer. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and one of the original founders of the Dyersville Sportsman Club. Leroy was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
