Lester Troester

Lester Otto Troester, 89 died June 14, 2009 at the Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, Iowa. He was born June 16, 1919 on the family farm, in Millville Township to George and Gertrude (Collins) Troester. Lester received his education at the Friedlein Country School. On September 29, 1943, Lester was united in marriage with Jessie Belle Decker in Farmersburg, Iowa. They continued to farm the same family farm until 1987 when they moved to Guttenberg. Lester loved his life on the farm and sight seeing throughout the countryside. He also enjoyed listening to Polka music and reading Farm & Ranch magazines. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the things he enjoyed most. Lester is survived by five sons, Jerome (Cindy) of Guttenberg, Iowa David (June) of Brecksville, Ohio, Dayle (Susan) of Manchester, Iowa, Harley (Nancy) of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, Richard (Vickie) of Shellsburg, Iowa; 14 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren; one sister Nellie Johanningmeier and one sister-in-law, Leona Troester both of Monona and many nieces and nephews. Lester is preceded in death by his wife Jessie in 1992, his parents, two brothers Arthur Troester and Philip Troester. two sisters and husbands Bernice (Frank) Walters and Emma (Thomas) McDowell, and one brother-in-law, Carl Johanningmeier. A special thank you to the staff at the Guttenberg Care Center for the care given to Lester for the past four years. Also to the Dubuque Hospice for the care and support given to the family for the past two weeks. Casket bearers Tony Troester, Jason Troester, Brian Troester, Timothy Troester, Christopher Troester and Patrick Troester. Honorary Bearers David Troester, Dyanna Buhrman, Katie Behm, Lisa Dierks, Jeffrey Troester, Jessica Troester, Melissa Nath and Dustyn Troester.In lieu of flowers, plants and all other gifts, memorials may be directed to the family of Lester Troester.Visitation: Tuesday 3:00 - 7:00 P.M.
