Lilith J. Kickbush, 102, of Guttenberg died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood after a long and blessed life. Lilith was born February 24, 1912 near Millville, the daughter of Charles and Ida Mae (Tinkey) Troester. Her early years were spent helping on the family farm and attending Friedlein School. She also worked for the Kuempel family for a time. Lilith was married to Ernest W. Kickbush on December 30, 1931 at Dubuque, IA. They rented the Gike farm by Millville for 8 years and in 1940 bought a farm on Skip Level road near Colesburg. In 1968 they moved to a nearby farm house where they lived until moving to Guttenberg in 1991. Lilith was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mallory Mixers and Colesburg Garden Club. She volunteered at the Guttenberg Meal Site until she was well into her 90's and received the Governor's Volunteer Award. She made many beautiful quilts and doilies for her family and sewed over 600 quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief. Lilith is survived by her children, Judith (Lorimer) Olson and Arlan Kickbush of Colesburg, Marilyn Koehler of Dubuque and Lareen (Clark)Gull of Marion, 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest in 1999, sister, Marguerite (Ervin) Kickbush, brothers Leon (Darlene) and Dwight (Jane)Troester, son-in-law Ted Koehler and daughter-in-law, Anne Kickbush.Visitation: Thursday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
