Linda Becker

Linda A. Becker, 68, of Dyersville, Iowa died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at her home. Visitation will be held 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Linda was born April 27, 1947, in Annapolis, MD, the daughter of Palmer D. and Frances (Reimer) Nycklemoe. Palmer died in an airplane crash when she was 6 months old. After the death of her father, she and her mother returned to live with her grandmother, Ella Besser, in Minneapolis. She was adopted by her step-father, Richard Muyres, when she was 6 years old, and was raised with six siblings. Linda attended St. Francis Grade School and Lourdes High School in Rochester, MN. Linda then attended Mankato State University and graduated with a B. A. in Elementary Education. Linda taught for one year in Leroy, MN. She met Paul Michael Becker of Dyersville, IA, and married him on Sept. 30, 1972. They moved to the Becker family farm, where they farmed and raised their four children. While a homemaker, Linda taught at St. Francis Xavier Elementary School in Dyersville, then St. Paul Elementary School in Worthington. She then accepted a position as Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Church in Monticello. After retiring from teaching, Linda owned and operated Curves in Dyersville for 10 years, then worked for Area Residential Care in Dyersville. Linda was a dedicated member of the St. Francis Xavier parish and served as an Extraordinary Minister for many years. Survivors include her husband, Paul, children: Gretchen (Russ) Cornwell of Cedar Rapids, Jessica (Wade) Allen of Aurelia, IA, , Zac Becker of Waterloo, IA and Andrea Becker of Decorah, IA; grandchildren: Rory and Lilah Allen and Bennett Cornwell; siblings: Greg Muyres of Faribault, MN, John Muyres of Rochester, MN, Jim Muyres of Mankato, MN, Dan (Shellie) Muyres of Rochester, MN, Carol Muyres of Stewartville, MN and Gail (Brian) Ripley of Lakeville, MN; in-laws: Joyce (Frank) Steindl of Stillwater, OK, Gary Becker of West Seneca, NY, Kathy (Joe) Schoening of Rockford, IL, Joyce Becker of Dyersville; many nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law: Bernard & Eleanor Becker, in-laws: John “Jack” Becker and Barbara Becker.
